Chapter One;

Day One ;

The sun had almost completely disappeared over the horizon of the city of Pittsburgh. The street lights were on the verge of turning on, young children were heading off to bed to get a good night's sleep, and Emily was putting the finishing touches on her makeup and getting ready to head out into the night. Her and her sister, Lauren, were preparing to meet up with some of their friends, also known as the Pittsburgh Penguins. The two young women had become close with the hockey players after meeting them about a year back. Lauren and Tyler Kennedy, a forward on the team, had recently officially become boyfriend and girlfriend. Emily, however, was not lucky enough to call any of the men hers in that sense of the word. On the other hand, she was able to call two of them hers in the form of the word meaning her best friends. Evgeni Malkin and Kristopher Letang, or Geno and Tanger, as she sometimes liked to call them, were the two guys that she was closest with. There was something about both of them that she found different than the rest; something that made her, secretly yet obviously, like them more than the others. Lauren and some of the guys like Sidney, Max and Jordan joked with the three of them about who Emily would hook up with one day, saying that either her and Kris looked like a good couple or the same thing about her and Geno. The three friends pretended to ignore them for the most part, but they each had special thoughts and feelings that maybe their friends were right. Secretly, of course. Emily, for one, had been privately thinking for a while now about becoming more than friends with Kris.
But right now there wasn’t time for thinking about anything, according to Lauren.
“We're going to be late! Hurry up!” she yelled, trying to get Emily to finish up.
“Oh please, TK can wait.” Emily joked with her younger sister. She was twenty two while Lauren was only twenty.
“What, you wanna look extra special for your boys tonight?” Laur shot back with her freshly painted blue fingernails on her hips. She had on a deep blue knee-length dress on to match.
Emily sighed but the smile on her freshly made-up face did not disappear. A silly remark like that was nawt going to ruin her good mood. This night was going to be a good one, she could feel it.
“Just give me a minute. Go wait in the car.” And with that being said, Lauren sighed and did what she was told.
As promised, Emily only took about sixty more seconds to finish up. Then she grabbed her enV touch and car keys off of her dresser and headed towards the door. She slipped on a pair of silver flats to compliment the small silver bow that was placed in the corner of her black mini dress, took a quick peek in the mirror to make sure the tiny, also silver, bow that held a few locks of her hair back was still in place, and was then outside into the night.
Hopping swiftly into the drivers seat of her 2007 silver BMW, Emily started up the car almost immediately. Music suddenly came through the speakers. Poker Face by Lady Gaga, again.
“Well, don't you look extra gorgeous tonight.” Lauren joked with a grin plastered on her face. It was obvious what she was thinking.
“I told ya, Laur. We're just friends.” Emily repeated for the millionth time.
“For now.” She winked with a giggle.
Emily just smiled and got ready to pull out, buckling her seatbelt and tossing her sister her phone.
“Hold this for me for now just incase I get a text.” She said and Laur nodded to let her know she would. No use getting stopped for holding it herself.
“God, I am so sick of this song!” Emily half laughed, half complained as the radio echoed the words to poker face again and again. She had just pulled out onto the road.
“I kind of like it.” Lauren admitted and then began her imitation of Lady Gaga's dance from her music video. This got her an eye roll and a laugh out of her older sister.
“You are weird.” Emily said flat out. Lauren fake pouted for a few seconds but then got back to dancing. Freak.
A few minutes and a couple over played songs later, the two were around five minutes away from their destination when a new song approached their ears.
“Finally.” Emily said, “Turn it up a bit.”
Lauren cranked the knob till the music was at the perfect level.

I gotta feeling
that tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good night
that tonight's gonna be a good good night
I feel it.

that tonight's gonna be a good night
That tonight's gonna be a good night
that tonight's gonna be a good good night
I feel it…

Emily smiled when she heard the lyrics to the song. Not only did it have a really good sound to it, it was exactly how she felt.

Tonight's the night night
Let's live it up
I got my money
Let's spend it up

Go out and smash it
Like Oh My God
Jump off that sofa
Let's get get OFF

I know that we’ll have a ball
If we get down
and go out
and just loose it all

“Turn it up.” Emily instructed her sister as she made a turn. This song was growing on her already.

I feel stressed out
I wanna let it go
Lets go way out spaced out
and loosing all control

Fill up my cup
Mazal tov
look at her dancing
Just take it off

Let's paint the town
We'll shut it down
Let's burn the roof
and then we'll do it again

Just then, Emily's phone vibrated in Lauren's lap. She turned down the radio and opened the cell to silence the buzzing.
“Oooh!” Lauren cooed with a grin.
“What? Who is it?” Emily asked in hopes of her reply to be one of her boys.
 “It's from Ge-no!” She sing-songed in response.
“What'd he say?” Em asked anxiously.
“He said…” Lauren quickly skimmed over the message and a smile spread across her face, “He said, hey beautiful, you and Lauren are coming tonight right?”
Emily could feel herself blush from the compliment, but it wasn't the first time he had sent a message like that before.
“So, beautiful, huh?” Lauren raised an eyebrow.
“Don't make a big deal about it. It's strictly as a friend.” Emily tried to assure her without luck.

“Pshh, yeah. Okay.” Lauren playfully rolled her deep blue eyes.
“Shush. Just tell him,” she paused to look at her surroundings outside, “that we're on our way now. We're just a minute away.”
“Okiedoke.” Lauren giggled and typed in a response. Too preoccupied with paying attention to the road, Emily didn't notice the devious grin on her face as she did so.
